Bali will be closed to foreign tourists by the end of 2020.

“Indonesia has not created an enabling environment for tourists from other countries to travel around the country, including Bali,” noted the Governor of Bali Wayan Koster in his statement.

In fact, we wrote earlier on the website about this, as well as about what was supposed to open Bali to foreigners from mid-September: Contradictory Indonesia: will foreign tourists be allowed to Bali? Until now, there has been hope that an exception will be made for Bali as the most popular resort in Indonesia. But the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia has corrected and led to this decision by the Indonesian authorities.

No new deadlines have been announced. Governor Wayan Costner also stressed that allowing foreign travellers to Bali requires serious and leisurely preparation, otherwise it could tarnish the island’s reputation.

Indonesia is currently trying to fully focus on domestic tourism in order to somehow revive the national tourism industry.
