Chile will open its borders to visitors from 23 November. Entry rules.

A few days ago we wrote that South Africa was opening its borders to travellers from all over the world. Now you can add Chile to the list of countries available for visitors.

Meanwhile, some Chilean media believe that restrictions for countries with poor epidemiological conditions can be added at any time to the permit decree.

There are no such restrictions as yet. The Government has confirmed that from 00:00 on 23 November entry into Chile will be permitted, but only through one ‘air gate’ – Santiago Airport. Other airports and land borders will remain closed to international travel for now.

Conditions under which a visit to the Republic is possible:

    • Presentation of a certificate with a negative PCR test for coronavirus, made no more than 72 hours before entry. In the absence of such a document – quarantine for 10 days;
    • completion of a special medical “health form” on entry;
    • installation of a mobile application on a smartphone for tracking traveler’s movements and contacts.

As we can see, the requirements are not difficult by current standards and are more than feasible.

WARNING: UPD of 16.11.2020!

Visitors who arrive during the first two weeks of the opening of the Chilean border, from 23 November to 7 December, from countries with a poor epidemiological situation according to the WHO classification, will have to observe a 14-day quarantine! The health form must indicate where they will be staying during this time!
