All the world’s airlines have been affected by the pandemic without exception, but only a few have behaved with dignity towards their passengers.
Emirates has already paid out almost 90% of the money requested by passengers. The colossal amount: 1,400,000,000 dollars! Back in May, the airline took active steps to mobilize resources and internal restructuring to speed up processing of requests.
In fact, almost all carriers had the same mechanisms:
- free ticket exchange for any date on the same route for a certain period of time;
- a voucher instead of cash to book any future airline ticket;
- a refund of the airline’s ticket price.
Emirates was treated fairly. Very fair. Yes, a refund had to wait, not a week or two, but not as long as some airlines. We are sure that the remaining 10% of Emirates passengers who requested money back will receive it soon.

Meanwhile, another airline from the UAE, Etihad Airways, will offer its passengers COVID-19 insurance. This is, of course, not the first such undertaking: the same Emirates, a number of other airlines have done so before.
What does this mean? It means that “guests who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 during their trip will not have to worry about medical or quarantine costs when they fly with Etihad”. This is a quote from the Abu Dhabi carrier’s website. All Etihad tickets, regardless of the booking date for travel from 7 September to the end of 2020, will include this insurance.
This is the news.
