The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kingdom today approved new long-term “special” tourist visas. This means only one thing: Thailand has decided to admit foreign tourists to the country, albeit under certain conditions. And almost since October!
Initially, the visa in question will be issued for 90 days with the possibility of double renewal for the same period. That is, a total of 270 days of stay in Thailand will be possible with such a visa. The dream of many fans of this Southeast Asian country has come true.
Now about the conditions of entry. If earlier we talked about admission exclusively to Phuket, now you can go to any corner of Thailand. However, you are only allowed to travel freely around the country after a mandatory two-week quarantine. Payment for the quarantine is at his or her own expense, and the tourist must show the voucher to the hotel he or she is staying at when he or she enters.
The “special” visa assumes that the traveller who agrees to the quarantine plans to stay in Thailand for a long time. It is likely that the minimum stay is about 3 months. What happens if you fly home in a month and a half, for example, is not clear yet.
There will be other requirements for entrants, of course. We will keep an eye on the information coming in and bring it to you immediately!
We assume that the news from Thailand will now follow one after another.
